The tradition of savouring a well paired cheese and wine is one of the greatest experiences in the world of gastronomy. The pairing is historically relevant; the science of the pairing and the magic through the fermentation of wine and cheese has to be the greatest accomplishment that humankind can take credit for to date.
The Okanagan is one of Canada’s fastest growing regions, and as the wine industry develops and continues to draw international attention, it also brings in artisanal producers from around the world looking to bring traditional wine country fare to the “new kids” on the world stage.
Small batch artisanal cheese producers have set up shop here and produce the best Canadian Cheeses west of the Great Lakes. Fromageries like Poplar Grove and Upper Bench use cow’s milk to produce old world style cheeses with new world perspectives, while Carmelis creates award winning goat cheeses that are reminiscent of farm house cheeses in France.
Mt. Boucherie Estate Winery – Ehrenfelser paired with Poplar Grove Tiger Blue, pork terrine, pineapple compote, house rye bread
The Hatch – Chardonnay paired with Upper Bench Okanagan Sun, smoked chicken, potato and dijonaise
Sperling Vineyards – Rosé paired with Carmelis chabichu, local beets, horseradish, peach vinaigrette
Nagging Doubt Winery – All the wines paired with a cheese board with variety of pairings.
At each location, while you enjoy an exclusive tasting experience, our guide will be assembling a dining area and gourmet dish to match a beautiful bottle of the wineries premium wine. This is often off list – no other tour experiences will be providing a taste of these wines.
